Dr. Mary Churchill Ph.D

Licensed Clinical Psychologist/Staff Psychologist

Dr. Mary Mitchell Churchill began working at UR CAPS in 1989 and is a staff psychologist, as well as one of the disability advisors at the University of Richmond.  Prior to joining the University, she was a psychologist in the Forensic Unit at Central State Hospital. Before her employment at Central State Hospital, she was the Employee Assistance Program Director at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.  She has also worked with various companies and corporations providing management development, diversity training, and assessments.

Dr. Churchill enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and considers herself a lover of good food.  She believes in four essential elements to help people cope with change:  SEEP - sleep, eat, exercise and plan to sleep, eat, and exercise.  She maintains the following tenets:  your past does not define your future; people can change but change requires work; and that counseling provides a safe space to work on issues.
